Plans to build the 19' Outer Banks Power Drift Boat

Here's a great forward-motor, surf-launched power drifter. These are commonly used on the Eastern Seaboard for commercial net boats that had to be launched in the surf. They'll handle wild whitewater and come home smiling. This model is avaiable both as a forward motor mount, like the one in the photo below, or as a stern mounted outboard boat, more like those used in the Pacific Northwest.

Building a Wooden Offshore Power Boat

About Power Drifters

I conceived these power drifters as safe, offshore power boats capable of handling unexpected conditions the North Pacific can throw at you suddenly. The river mouths and channel entrances of Alaska and the Pacific Northwest are known as some of the worst possible boating conditions anywhere.

These boats also perform great when used in fast moving rivers while needing to power upstream across rough, whitewater conditions.

These drift-boat based hull forms are highly maneuverable and highly stable in moving water and breaking waves to bring you through bar crossings, or crazy offshore conditions, in one piece. They're sturdily designed for commercial capable operations, yet not overly heavy for easy trailerability and launching. While not speed demons, they'll power through anything and get up on a plane when desired with minimal power. They're ideal for offshore jaunts anywhere in the world where conditions are unpredictable and a safety is paramount.
