Plans to build the 18' Ka-Joe Quiet Bayou Boat

I designed this for a builder who lives along the Gulf Coast where the coastline is covered with inland waterways known as Bayous. Here is the home to the Cajuns, a group of hearty sportsmen who have learned to prosper in an area that is hostile and dangerous to those who don't know its ways, but is a virtual buffet of fish and game to those who live there. Named for his uncle, a Cajun named Joe, this builder wanted a boat that was quiet, to sneak up on the fish and game of the bayou, yet sturdy and economical. Here's an 18 footer that can haul a 1000 lb gator one day, yet be quiet enough to sneak up on a flock of ducks the next. With only a 9.9 hp motor, you can get up on a plane, yet row or pole it when you want to move silently. This is an unpretentious, rugged boat ready to work or play in shallow water marshes, swamps and bayous.

Plans to build wooden flats fishing boat

About Flats Fishing Boats

Krista "Redfish" Tucker, one of the premier flats fishing pros out there, shown with a Florida Keys redfish. The flats of the Gulf Coast, South Florida, the Southeastern United States, and Caribbean are prime spots for top notch fishing opportunities, and specialized flats fishing boats are just the ticket for these waters. My flats fishing boats are easy to build and operate as well or better than many of the specialized craft you can buy out there. They're a whole lot more economical too.
