Ben Buck's Seneca Launched in South Australia

Ben Buck just posted these to his Facebook page. It is late spring in Australia now, so it looks like his summer will be lots of fun. He says he stretched it from 4.3M to 4.8M (14 to 15-1/2') and it cruises along at 45 km/hr (28 mph.)

Otter's Point Dory Just Splashed in Southern California

Benjamin & James just sent me this note and these pictures from their recent 11' Otters Point Dory launch.

Hi Jeff,

Just wanted to let you know that my son and I launched our home-built boat on Veteran's day weekend. It's your Otter's Point design, with a slight modification to the stern and some other minor adjustments. We still plan to tinker with the inside, and perhaps rig it for a sail some day. I thought you'd like just a few of the many photos I have from the last 17 months (we built it at our own pace!).

Thanks,

Jim

Seneca Just Launched in Southern California

Felix Metoyer just sent me this note and these pictures from his recent boat launch.

Hi Jeff,

I can't thank you enough for the plans, a couple years ago you hand delivered them to my wife at her work since it was for Father's Day and wouldn't make it if shipped. This past Sunday the 12th we took our Seneca out for its first hull test. Ultimately we plan on converting the tiller trolling motor to remote steering wheel on the helm and add a proper bench seat in the back, but she did great on the water.

The boats name is "proof of concept" as this was a bit of a test and learning experience for me to prove a boat could be built at home (with a family young child, minimal tools, and not much spare time;-). Although I am sure we will enjoy this lake and harbor boat for some time, my eye is already on the Winchester 23 as the next project to deploy skills learned on this one.

Thanks again and take care,

Felix Metoyer

Albion Pacific Power Dory Launched in Massachusetts

Al Dettenreider launched his Albion Pacific Power dory in Massachusetts this summer. He stretched it to 20 feet to have enough space forward for several deck chairs that he and his family could enjoy while cruising the local lakes and rivers. He did a very nice job on it too. Al spent about a year working on it, and heavily used Mark Vicker's videos in the insider section as guidance. By the way, this is Al's first boat, and he started it when he was 82 years old.

28' Cajun Folkboat Just Completed in Louisiana

William Atckinson Jr. just completed this 28' Cajun Folkboat, in Lafayette, Louisiana. These were originally powered with single cylinder inboard engines, but this version is adapted to work with modern outboards, from 10 to 65 hp. This is to take visitors on rides through the Bayous of the Atchafalaya Basin.

Rogue Power Drifter launched in Ecuador

I just received this note and these pictures:

Mr. Jeff Spira,

My name is Olguer Heras, I am from Ecuador, I did a lot search on the internet I found a lot of boat plans but did not fill my expectations, until I found your plans.

I decided to build the Rogue Power Drifter, because I am very close to the jungle and the rain forest and we have some white water rivers. It was fun to build. I take a couple of months to finish, but it was worth it.

Thanks, Mister Spira.

I sent you some photos, too. I hope you enjoy it.

Best regards,

Olguer Heras
