I just received this email and photos of a Huntington Harbor kayak built in Florida.
Finally got that Huntington Harbor completed with the removable tops in the Everglades/Pirogue style. We've had a blast with it. It's much more stable than a traditional poling craft of this genre with the wider beam and a great introduction to boat building. There is a rich history of these small poling craft in the Everglades, I knew I had to keep the tops removable for the style of exploring we do here in SW Florida with our miles of mangroves and grass flats.
I'm glad I chose this to get my feet wet (no pun intended). Here is a link to some larger images of the me splashing her with the kids. She cuts through the water and turns on a dime, really a fun little boat.

Please don't be embarrassed to send in photos of your projects. I get a lot of emails from people who tell me about their build but never send any pictures. I'd love to see them, as would all of the other people who are either building a boat or thinking about it. They need all the encouragement they can get.
