Plans to build the 15' Cape Cod Rowing Skiff
I wanted to design a light, slippery rowing boat suitable for all sorts of water conditions. It had to be light enough to car-top and yet handle choppy lake, bay or near coastal waters. The result is this flat bottom, sharp entry traditional rowboat that should hold its own against whitehalls and other traditional rowing craft, yest be simple to build for the first time builder, rugged, and attractive. You should be able to knock one out in a few weekends for not much money. All materials except maybe the epoxy resin, is available at any home improvement store or lumber yard.

About Rowing Boats
There was a time when there were such a thing as rowing boats - not power boats or sail boats that could be rowed, but boats really designed for rowing. These boats tracked straight and true, continued to glide between oarstrokes, and slipped miles past the transom as the rower kept a moderate pace. This is my take on these traditional boats of yesteryear. Mine uses a traditional hull shape with lightweight and rugged modern materials.
